BELLE ISLE SPRING CLEAN-UP - SATURDAY,
APRIL 26, 2008
9:00 am to 1:00 pm:
The Friends of Belle Isle Spring Clean-Up is back. It will take
place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Meet at the historic Belle Isle Casino at 9:00 a.m. Wear warm boots
and gloves and be prepared to get dirty. Cleanup supplies will be
furnished. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served to those that
come to help. FOBI will issue certificates to students to fulfill
community service requirements. All help is welcomed.
If you plan on bringing a group, please call
the FOBI Office at 313-331-7760 and let them know you are coming.
The site to be cleaned will be determined with the island administrator.

"SHIVER ON THE RIVER" Saturday,
2/2/2008
The 9th Annual, "Shiver on the River" was held on Belle Isle Saturday, February 2nd, 2008, at the historic Belle Isle Casino from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Our winter ecological family fair is a 'one-of-a-kind' event with exhibitors and fun for the whole family. This annual co-sponsored event was presented by: The Friends of the Detroit River, Friends of Belle Isle, Detroit Recreation Department, and Wayne County Department of Environment – Watershed Management Division.

FOBI FOURTH
SMASH THEATRE PARTY - SUNDAY, 4/6/2008
FOBI hosted their annual Theatre Party at the
Detroit Repertory Theater on Sunday, April 6, 2008. The performance
was “Southern Comforts” a romantic comedy by Kathleen
Clark. All proceeds from the event went directly to the Friends
of Belle Isle Preservation and Tree Fund.
The Friends of Belle Isle donated $5,000 worth of trees to the City
of Detroit for Belle Isle in 2007. With the help of The Greening
of Detroit, 61 new trees were planted on the island last October;
the FOBI Tree Fund made this possible.
